What a Week for the Yankees

The Captain Derek Jeter has cemented himself as a Yankee legend.  On September 11, 2009 he became the all time hit king for the New York Yankees by surpassing the previous mark set by the first Yankee captain the “Iron Horse” Lou Gehrig.  Lou had 2,721 hits in pinstripes.  Jeter is in a class by himself, he is the consummate professional and he is what athletes should be.  The Yankees continue to press toward the AL East crown, something that has eluded them for the past few seasons.  This team is primed and ready to go for October, the only piece I have cause for concern with is AJ Burnett.  We have seen him at his best this season and right now he is really struggling.  Which AJ will we see in October?

Hideki Matsui is having a season to remember and tonight was just another piece of that.  He came up in the bottom of the eighth inning and hit a game tying two run homerun to tie the Blue Jays at four and set up the dramatics in the bottom of the ninth inning for Fransisco Cervelli, ya you read that right!!  Cervelli had the 14th walk off win for the Yankees this season in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Yankees their 94th win of the season.  Who are your top five Yankees?  Is Jeter on of them?  Congratulations Derek Jeter!
